Daily maintenance of black bathroom fixtures.

It is not only trendy but also stylish and will retain a beautiful, luxurious look if you maintain it carefully and daily.

What many people don't know is that black sanitary ware (and especially matte black) requires a lot of maintenance to stay beautiful.

In the Netherlands, we have a fair amount of limescale in our water, and this also varies by region. The problem with limescale is that it's essentially a type of stone (grit), and if it's not cleaned regularly, it petrifies and can become almost as hard as concrete. The problem is that it then becomes almost impossible to remove. That's why we're offering some handy tips to keep your black sanitary ware looking beautiful and clean.

If limescale isn't removed regularly, it builds up, and it becomes so hard that anything moving on it will scuff and scratch. It also creates white stains that are noticeable and ultimately difficult or impossible to remove. Maintain black sanitary ware daily.

For example, if you adjust the height of a hand shower holder, the problem will only get worse. The limescale builds up and eventually wears away the paintwork, causing irreparable damage to the protective paintwork and the stainless steel layer on the iron. This can even lead to rust.

Our advice for the maintenance of black sanitary ware

We therefore recommend that you always dry your faucet , shower head, and hose thoroughly and quickly after every shower with a soft cloth , washcloth, or towel. This way, you'll enjoy your products for longer and cleaning them will be quicker. We also recommend regularly cleaning the shower and its components with a mild all-purpose cleaner (avoid harsh descaling agents).

If you do want to remove limescale stains from your faucets, you can use an anti-limescale agent at your own risk, but this can cause stains that are impossible to remove. If in doubt, we strongly advise against this. To apply an anti-limescale agent: spray it onto the parts, let it sit for a maximum of 1 minute, and then rinse lightly with a soft sponge (not a scouring pad!) and lukewarm water (for example, with a hand shower).

Descaling shower head and hand shower

Rain showerheads and hand showers often come with silicone nubs that can be removed from limescale with a soft sponge or/and a single motion. You can also soak the showerhead or hand shower in a bowl of natural or cleaning vinegar overnight. Rinse thoroughly, dry, and reassemble the next morning.

Daily maintenance of black sanitary ware: how to prevent problems later on

The secret to sparkling black bathroom fixtures? Give them a little TLC every day! Dry the surfaces with a soft cloth after use. This prevents water stains and limescale buildup, keeping everything looking fresh and new. This is especially true for black faucets, shower walls, and sinks – a small effort, but a big impact on the overall look!

Keeping a black shower free of limescale

Nothing is more annoying than limescale on that beautiful black shower. That's why prevention is better than cure! Ensure good ventilation in your bathroom. Dry your shower area after use with a squeegee or a soft cloth. For a weekly, thorough cleaning, use a mild cleaning agent like natural vinegar specifically formulated for black bathroom fixtures. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and dry immediately with a soft cloth. Avoid using on black parts.

Black washbasin without stains

A black sink endures a lot of daily wear and tear, from toothpaste and shaving cream to soap scum. Use a mild cleaner like dish soap with warm water and wipe the sink clean with a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive or harsh cleaning agents – these can damage the finish, which would be a shame for your beautiful black sink.

Maintaining a black toilet or toilet

A black toilet gives your bathroom a cool, modern look, but it also requires specific cleaning. Avoid cleaning products containing bleach or harsh acids, as they will damage the black coating. Use a soft toilet brush and a mild cleaner to clean the inside. Don't forget to wipe the outside regularly with a damp cloth to prevent dust and stains.

Black taps without scratches

Black faucets often have a special coating that can be sensitive to scratches and harsh cleaning agents. Therefore, use a soft cloth and a mild cleaning agent, such as a mixture of water and dish soap. Want an extra shine? Always dry the faucet thoroughly after cleaning to prevent limescale buildup.

Still struggling with limescale on your black bathroom fixtures? This is the solution!

Despite all your care, a light limescale can still form, resulting in white spots. Use a lemon-based cleaning product. This is not only effective but also environmentally friendly. Vinegar, hydrochloric acid, or chlorine, on the other hand, are absolutely unsuitable for the coating of your black sanitary ware – so always avoid these cleaning products!

Why is black sanitary ware more susceptible to limescale than other colours?

Black sanitary ware requires more maintenance than chrome, which is less likely to develop limescale. Black sanitary ware is often matte, and limescale accumulates more quickly than on smoother surfaces.

Bathroom fixtures with colors like gold, copper, and gunmetal are also very sensitive to harsh cleaning agents. You can clean them with a diluted solution of lukewarm water and, for example, regular green soap (mild soap). Any other cleaning agents containing any of the following substances can cause damage: hydrochloric acid, formic acid, acetic acid, or chlorine bleach. With this solution, you can easily clean your copper faucet and other shower accessories. Don't forget to rinse thoroughly with lukewarm to warm water afterward.
